Devil Spoo, known as 'Gokuaaku Spoo' in Japan, is a legendary internet meme born from a 2006 episode of the NHK children's program 'Okaasan to Issho.' During a drawing segment, host Shoko Haida attempted to sketch the show's mascot, Spoo, but the result was an unsettling, vaguely humanoid creature that looked more like an eldritch horror than a friendly puppet. The sheer absurdity of the drawing, combined with the other host's visible struggle to contain his laughter on live television, turned the sketch into an overnight sensation.
